Can I use a VPN?
Yes, you can use a VPN while trading on The Prop Pit. However, there are important guidelines to follow:
Using a VPN is not recommended as Pit Trader automatically routes your connection to the closest server location. A VPN adds an extra network hop that increases latency and may result in slower order execution. See Server Locations for details on our global infrastructure and live latency testing.
- Use a consistent IP location — Avoid constantly switching between countries. Frequent location changes may trigger a security review.
- Do not use a VPN to bypass country restrictions — If you are in a restricted country, using a VPN to access The Prop Pit is a violation of the Terms of Service and will result in account termination.
- Keep your KYC region consistent — Your trading location should generally align with the country you verified during KYC.
Can I use a VPS?
Yes, VPS (Virtual Private Server) usage is allowed and common, especially for traders running automated strategies or EAs. A VPS gives you a stable, always-on connection and is recommended if:
- You trade with bots or expert advisors that need to run 24/7.
- You want to avoid disconnections from an unstable home internet connection.
- You need low-latency execution closer to exchange servers.
VPS guidelines
- One account per person — Running multiple funded accounts on the same VPS is fine, as long as they all belong to you. Sharing a VPS with other traders is not allowed.
- All trading rules still apply — Using a VPS does not exempt you from any rules (session close, contract limits, prohibited strategies, etc.).
- No HFT manipulation — A VPS should not be used to gain an unfair latency advantage for prohibited strategies like latency arbitrage or HFT scalping.
If you run automated trading on a VPS, make sure your bot respects session close times and avoids prohibited event tactics such as news straddling. The VPS won't stop your bot automatically — it's your responsibility to configure it properly.
